IREM and the Community Outreach Committee will once again be sponsoring a tent at the Special Olympics Summer Games June 21-23 at Stillwater Area High School.
The tent will be located in the Summer Games Olympic Town, which is an area for Special Olympians and their families to socialize and participate in games and other fun activities.
IREM will offer the 'Pot A Plant' activity -- a program that gives athletes a chance to pot a houseplant for them to take home and nurture throughout the year. This program is a rewarding experience for both participants and volunteers!
Volunteers needed
We need about 30 volunteers to work in shifts during the games. Sign up online by following these steps:
1. Go to the Special Olympics Minnesota volunteer page
2. Select "Use Reservation Code"
3. Type "irem" into the field and click "apply reservation code"
4. Click on the event for which you would like to sign up
5. Below the name of the event organizer select "click here to register"
6. Type your email address and first name
7. Create your volunteer profile. Be sure to select IREM as the company/organization you will be volunteering with under "volunteer group."
8. Select your desired volunteer shift.
9. Click "complete registration.
10. If you want to register for another shift just click "register for selected event" and select a new time.
You should receive a confirmation email shortly after registering, along with a temporary password to use the next time you log into the system. If you don't receive a confirmation, check your spam filter for an email from volunteer@somn.org.
Donations gladly accepted
Financial contributions will help IREM cover the cost of sponsoring the tent, and donors will be recognized in the IREM Minnesota newsletter. Checks should be made out to 'Special Olympics Minnesota' with 'IREM' written in the memo line.
